Merchant Acquisition Associate (Entry-Level)
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Rakuten.com Shopping is looking for a motivated and driven individual to join our merchant acquisition team. The Merchant Acquisition Associate will be responsible for the lead generation and acquisition of merchants to sell on our platform in order to enhance the product assortment of our award winning Rakuten.com Shopping Marketplace.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Our ideal candidate must be a self-starter and a tenacious individual. This person will have a good understanding of the e-commerce industry and will be quick learner and can take initiative and see projects through from start to finish. This person must not shy away from making cold-calls and be comfortable fielding technical questions, and negotiating contract terms.
OUR TRAINING
We believe that training is important to an employee's success and personal growth. As a Merchant Acquisition Associate, you will go through a one week training where you will learn from and work next to some of our top performing employees. They will teach you techniques on different approaches on how to flex your communication style to be able to introduce our services to small business owners as well as senior corporate executives.
RESPONSIBILIES
Responsible for the acquisition of merchants to sell on our website platform
Accomplish target performance objectives on a consistent basis.
Negotiate contract terms
Perform a high volume of sales cold calls in order to secure new business.
Occasional travel may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
Bachelors from a 4 year program required
Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel
Must be very detail-oriented and foster strong working relationships, have good follow-up with potential partners.
Must have the willingness to learn
Strong written and verbal communication
Must be self-motivated and driven individual
A passion for working with people.
BONUS POINTS
Experience in E-Commerce or other online business greatly preferred
Experience with Salesforce.com a plus
Experience with major marketplaces such as Amazon or EBay a plus
